Meet Naiya

My name is Naiya, and I currently live in Switzerland with my partner — and more books than I can count! Learning and teaching have always been passions of mine, but after graduating, I wasn’t sure what career path to take. I love drawing, knitting, creating playlists, and, of course, reading — but I couldn’t see how these could lead to a career that made a real difference. So, I returned to my first passion: learning.

I began tutoring alongside my studies and quickly discovered a skill for helping students build confidence and develop their English skills. After earning my BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, I decided to build a career that not only improves grades but inspires a genuine eagerness to learn.

Alongside tutoring, I work as an exam content writer, creating practice questions and extracts, which keeps me up-to-date with exam expectations and gives my students an extra advantage. I’m DBS certified, safeguarding trained, and TEFL qualified, but above all, I’m committed to creating a safe, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and are proud of their progress.

My Approach

Education should be a complete support system, not just an isolated lesson. I design learning that bridges the gaps between school, home, and independent study. This is done through structured overviews so students can track their learning and with lesson resources, homework and additional reading work that all work in conjunction with each other so students can develop and improve.

Students improve the most when they feel confident and comfortable. During lessons, I make a clear effort to encourage students to speak their minds and make mistakes without judgement or condemnation. For me, learning is about development as well as being correct or successful

  • I want students to finish each lesson with a clear sense of achievement — whether that’s mastering a skill, completing a book, or understanding a concept that once felt impossible.

  • While English is not a favourite for most students, tutoring lessons can be deeply satisfying. I want my students to experience the pride and confidence that comes from working hard and seeing results, even in topics they don’t naturally enjoy.

  • Progress is about more than just grades. It’s a stronger paragraph, a sharper argument, clearer expression or even just understanding. I help students notice and value these small, consistent steps forward.

My Goals

I founded Tutoring with Naiya to offer a complete support system for students. My tutoring business is about boosting students up so that they want to learn. Enjoying lessons is just one part of my process, I want to create materials and resources which students can use without feeling they are lost or confused. I want students to thrive both in and outside of tutoring.
